Harrisburg Beer Week
Welcome the second installment of the HBC blog.
As I write this I am currently in an airplane flying west to visit family for a long overdue vacation. I wanted to take this time as a reflection of HBG Beer Week. I made the decision that I would put everything into these events to really grow our brand as well as see current friends in the business as well as make new friends/contacts. I was fortunate to pour at three events in eight days. I will be splitting one very long blog post into 4 specific event post.
The first event was “Third In The Burg” at City House. A free music, art, and beer-sampling event. Now the city house is a bed and breakfast on Front Street of Harrisburg. The house had a small lawn that I chose to pour from. I feel that especially when the weather is nice people want to be outside enjoying the weather if possible. The sky was beautiful partly cloudy and sunny. I put up the recently purchase tent and sure enough it starts raining. I guess I have that kind of luck with things. After a short 10 minute light rain the sun came out and was perfect for an evening pouring beer. I brought two different award winners to pour.
- Wasser Des Rhines—a German style Kolsch that I infused with limes in the Dogfish Head Randall.
- Mickey McFinnigan a dry Irish stout.

I completed my set up, ran the beer through the jockey box and started the event. The event probably brought in roughly between 45-60 people. There were also two groups of people who just hung out and drank beer. Everyone was quite surprised the beer I was offering was something that came from a home brewer. To me that is the best complement I can receive is someone says that the thought the beer they are sampling came from a commercial brewery. And as quick as the event started it was time to get cleaned up and move on to the next event.
On a side note I would really like to thank my two good friends Brian and Andy who drove from Johnstown to show their support. Thanks guys!!
