Continuing on with Harrisburg Beer Week 2017, I chose to simply attend the Battle of the Homebrewers as a sampler vs pouring for a couple of reasons:
- This event would have been my fourth event in eight days.
- I feel my brewing is at a level of professional status and my beer wouldn’t be displayed in that fashion.
- It’s nice to be on the other end of the table giving feedback to the brewer to try help diagnose or make suggestions to help their product.
- Support my fellow home brew club mate, Jake, at the event.
These homebrew events can be a wild card—you don’t know what you will receive. I’ve had amazing beers at these types of events as well the other end of the spectrum where I dumped the beer out for various reasons. Over all, this event was great. I had fun just hanging out with friends, talking shop, and sampling great beer.
Congrats to Jake for winning his 2nd People’s Choice and winning the funky/sour category.
